Idk man that engine is known to be reliable. The 3.5L LX5 Twin Cam V6 aka Shortstar was based off the L47 Aurora V8 which was based off the Northstar engine. The 3.5L LX5 was also on Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 1999 and 2000 and the Northstar made Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 1995, 1996, and 1997. One of the 3.5L LX5's features is its limp home fail-safe mode which allows the engine to continue running for a limited time (around 100 miles) without any coolant. The engine does this by shutting down cylinders alternatively to help cool the engine and keep it running. Its also has a coil-at-plug ignition system with extended-life spark plugs for greater engine performance and reduced maintenance requirements. Plus the engine had no scheduled service requirements for 100,000 miles and featured Teflon crankshaft seals to prevent fluid leaks for more than 150,000 miles. Just thought I would throw that info out there lol.
