I used a 5.5mm socket and a flexible ratchet extension, and a regular ratchet extension to remove that bolt. Literally the first time I have been able to use that flex ratchet extension that I bought in 1983. I did not remove the blower motor, at least so far. I only have it out and have not procured or installed the new one.

Use a flat head offset screwdriver when removing the plug.

Old resistor is visibly bad, but not as bad as the one posted by Black.
