I have my doubts because I think the stock fuel pump closes off the tank once the car is off (if it wouldn't, then changing a fuel filter would be a HUGE mess, but only about half a cup of gasoline leaks out). Now a dead fuel pump.. that may have the fuel tank shut off completely and since it is dead, no fuel will leave the tank.

Now if my theory is proven false, I think it would work. Just be sure to have it installed after the fuel filter to keep the pump clean. Then you need to locate the wiring.. heheh. Something needs to tell the external pump to turn on.
