Actually I just figured it out
Had to get my handy dandy Hanes manual out and check the wiring. It showed two fuses for the instrument cluster. The IPC/HVAC fuse "N" was obviously blown. Once I found the fuse hidden down low under a breaker it was clear this was a problem. Just replaced it and all is well again!!!
