Or he could actually know something about cars and be able to spot the year of the car he is racing. I couldn't even make a list of all the cars I have both won and lost against at the track.

so your telling me you can tell the difference between a 98 and 99 monte z34? or 97+ grand prix's? rims changed on the GP's, and the emblem, thats the only cosmetic difference, and the steering wheel later on. or a 2000 or 2002 monte carlo?
lots of cars look the same year to year
and a lightly modded 3400 wont beat a supercharged 3800. we need mods to beat a NA 3800
