The red plug is on top of the tranny under your air intake. If you look hard enough, you will find it. Checking the fluid is difficult and actually can be a bit dangerous to do in your driveway.
You have to have the car up on stands and level so you can get under it. This means that you may need four stands, one for each corner to have it level. As stated above, there is another smaller plug (not the red one) just above the passager side axle on the transmission itself. In the Haynes manual it states that the car has to be warmed up and running while you check it. Take the small plug out and add fluid through where the larger red plug was until it runs out of the where the small plug was.
Hate crawling under cars when they are running.
