Well they finally found the trouble behind my DRL parking lamps fuse continually blowing....it was a foot long piece of wire that was melted on the radio wiring harness (the part right behind the harness going to the fuse block) and it caused a part of my dimming wire on my radio to melt, which explained why i was having some troubles with my radio in the first place....anywho, they are replacing the entire wiring harness and told the warranty company that it was the stock radio in there (thank god)

otherwise this would have cost me over $400, but now its only $100 deductible plus accessory fees that the warranty wont cover.

moral to the story BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!
i think we paid like $1200 for the extended warranty and it has already paid huge dividends, ive had like $2000 in repairs now (catalytic converter, this wiring harness, bad passenger side strut)

yea the mechanic at the shop said hes never seen anything like it before...that the wire going to the radio would cause fuses for parking lamps to blow causing running lights and the DRLs to not function....perhaps a good reason why Oldsmobile got the axe, the mechanic said only Oldsmobiles have all this extra wiring and garbage of which is what i specifically had trouble with

Exactly..Go pull the dash out on a Malibu or GrandAm and the wiring will be the same.

whats your other car dude.

yes most of us on here do love olds cause we love our cars. it goes deeper than that for me as olds has been a family tradition for 3 generations now.

i think nerd said what he did because u made and IGNORANT STATEMENT....... saying that olds was the worse division of gm and so on....... when the fact is that oldsmobiles were built on the same plateforms as other gm vechicals........ makeing them identical interms of powertrain, electrical and so on.

but then again u seem to be a smart car guy so u mustve known that already.

Im on my 2nd alero and I have only had minor maintance issues. When I got t-boned and my car was on the verge of being totalled I was seriously considering getting another one, but then thought 3 aleros in a row is a bit obsessive. I love my car, as so others on here. If you hate your car so much, get rid of it and leave the site.
