Keyless entry/alarm questions

So my 99 is equipped with keyless entry. I found a new DEI/GM VSL-4000 alarm cheap. I'm trying to get some understanding of how the keyless entry works, etc. It looks like the keyless entry receiver runs to the BCM. The BCM then apparently sends the signals to the appropriate door lock/unlock relays. Can I disconnect the keyless entry module completely, then disconnect the output wires from the BCM to the lock/unlock relays and connect them to the new VSL4000 module? Or is the car going to spaz out on me because the BCM is missing these components?

Well, you have to realize that when you press the lock button on the door, the signal goes to the BCM which energizes the relay and then the doors lock or unlock.

You could disconnect the RKE module without any bad effects. It's clipped into the rear deck near the trunk light.

Ok, so it sounds like I need to leave the BCM outputs to the relays connected. Can I then tap into those outputs between the BCM and the relays?

Bear with the newbness as I've never done an alarm before.

I'm not sure if it will set a SVS light if you do it between the relay and BCM. I do think there is some sort of class 2 interface that makes it easy though.
