different guage clusters?
What other guage clusters would work in the alero for the wiring part it does not bother me i just was wondering if any other one would fit directly into where ours fits?

I am not 100% sure the intrigue might but it is basically the same only difference is the way the rpm gauge is set...i can't remember if it has a lower red line of if the gauge goes to 8k rpm instead of 7k but the extra rpm isn't necessary unless you have a built motor that can handle going over 7k rpm

Intrigue does, only difference on it is it goes up 1k higher in rpm.

Well i might as well buy a different guage cluster for the alero and do what a guy did on youtube he made his own guage cluster face and all it looks complicated as hell but im going to give it a try

The intrigue cluster isn't guaranteed to work. The data signals that the cluster recieves may be different, but it may work. Only way to know is to try.

Just curious, why would you want to switch to another factory cluster? If you're going to do custom work, do it custom.

I'll let you know once the weather warms up.
I happen to have an Intrigue cluster (with the 8000RPM tach) on my passenger seat.
New motor will rev to 7000+ RPM.

Sounds good. When I bricked my PCM, I got a junkyard PCM for a 3100 Malibu and prayed that it would just work for a temp fix because of how similar the Malibu is to the Alero. When I started my car up after putting it in, some of my gauges didn't work so that's why I have my doubts whether the Intrigue cluster would work.

check with dakota digital... wayyyyyy nicer than this one...
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...=cat/cat69.htm
if that would've been available back in the days.....
I would have saved at least one grand... and have turnsignal and high/low beam and a check engine and a trip meter..

that's gui's car... iirc he had to go full custom with the 3800 s/c swap because the wiring and pcm wouldn't configure with the alero harness and gauge cluster... still looks freaking awesome though!!
