Head Gasket Reapair Costs
Head Gasket repair including parts for $495..including stat. Good deal? I just hope when we get the heads off they're not warped or cracked. Found a guy who's a GM repair tech with ten years of experience at a Chevy dealership and just replaced a
head gasket on a 05 Malibu with 45k miles

That seems good, I did the repair with my dad but $205 for head gasket set, $350 for head work, and $50 for random parts.

I didn't include oil/filter and coolant but still. I bought the gasket set (fel pro steel intake) head gasket local $170 and $325 labor. Crossing my fingers this fixes my coolant leak once and for all.

Maybe, maybe not. Intake and head gasket problems are commom faliures on these engines. With 115k on the engine and only $1900 invested in the car..not a lot invested

I think the class action suit is pretty much dead. I won't put it (dexcool) back in my car though

Neither would I which is why I changed though it actually was due to faulty head gasket design.

Dex-Cool is great... it's the gaskets that were shitty... read up sometime. The LD9 nor L61 ever had an issue, it was only the crappy 3400's quality control.
Regardless I rock Prestone all makes/models. Green is pretty easy to identify compared with brown oil and red trans fluid.

$495 is an absolute steal.
I replaced head gaskets on a 3100 and I think it was like... $400 worth of parts and fluids and all that.

It's not even the 3400's fault. It's the gaskets. There are other engines with the same fate.
Once you change the gaskets, there's no problem.
