if you want alot of bump, forget the 6x9s and just get all sub. 2x10s work well for me. but 12s fit like they were ment for our trunks. 6x9s give you a little back fill... but your sub will over power them anyday.

That will be louder than many mediocre pair of 12's. The bass shoots right up where the 6x9's were

You dont need the 6x9's with a sub!

I'm a car audio expert and I'll tell you, if you put two 12" competition Digital Designs (3400 Series) or two 12" competition Crossfire P1's with a 1400 watt Crossfire amp, which pushes like 1850 watts max, and put them in the right sized and ported box, you truck will have about a 140-165 dB bump in it. You would also have to add another battery, I prefer Optima Red Top, or Odessy. It might cost some money, but it will look good and sound amazing, and you'll still have some truck space left.

i think 165 db is a little more bump then i want. SQ is the route i want to go i drive 1 hr one way to work mon-fri. and i want a little more bass not a comp system ( been there done that ) . i just wanted opions of what works in alero's.

heres the plan :
10" sub (middle of the road value)
400 watt amp
mdf and fiberglass inclosure in the corner of the trunk firing right to left
new 6 x 9 three ways
possible a small amp for the 6x9's

or
get a three chanel amp for the sub and 6x9's

Hey I hit a 140 with two Volfenhag Aluminum Competition 12" subs in a Sealed Pre-Fabbed Box with a 500watt Discountinued Soundstorm Labratories Amp. And the Mic was on the Dash. I hit a 137.9 Outlaw.

Ok, why a 400 wrms amp? You need to choose the amp in accordance with the sub Also corner loading is alright, but its not to spectacular.

Also replacing the rear 6x9's is a quality degrade. You would be light years ahead replacing the front speakers with quality components and amping them!

Im an SQL/SQ guy. So Ive tried a few different things in my time... Ive done the 220 WRMS 6x9 4 ways... Sure its loud as shlt, but its loud BEHIND you...

They were actually given to me by my nephew but you can get them with the box brand new for like 239.00 each. There descent subs but they take up a shit load of space. I don't think that I am going to use them much longer, thinking about putting my twelves back in. Might be getting rid of the L5's. You can get these from crutchfield, online, circuitcity, and at a discounted price I think. They will put alot of bump in the trunk tho, I've been playing with my amp and crossover levels all day and final found a happy medium. One of these is enough, but two is one to many. Good luck with your search.

What mic?

I did 140 with a single 12" Sound Storm Slade, which is a laughable sub at best- its sound storm...

I always have to question a "car audio expert" especially when they are self proclaimed and speak in "max watts"... I do know there are thousands upon thousands of so called experts that dont know squat about squat... They claim to be experts, then people take their advice, which generally is piss poor advice at best...
