Rear control arm swap

I have air ride on the car and cant lay it out because I dont have enough physical room for the rear passenger tire to clear the bumper/fender. Right now the only reason I can come up with for this is doing the ssbc rear brake kit. This was a rear disc car so in order to do the swap the rear knuckles had to be switched to drum knuckles in order for it to go on the car. I was told by a guy at firestone who look at the car, that the Impala's have a rear control arm is adjustable. Does anyone know if it will fit and have the ability to adjust to a shorter length than what is on an Alero? If this would work it would give me the toe adjustment to clear so I could lay the car out again. Any help would be awesome.
