If i unplug the gauge cluster from my alero to put in new guage face and glow needles, will the milage reset? what can i do to not worry about that and what else could possibly happen?

Yea, your milage is all stored in the computer and is simply shown on the gauges. Really you have nothing to worry about just if you pull the needles off make sure you put them back on pointing in the right direction

i don't have new gauage faces yet but i have bought a chrome bezel to cover the ugly black. so by unplugging the guages from the dash to pull the cover off of them, theres nothing to worry about for milage and all that bs? thanks guys

yeah, your trip miles will reset to zero, but total mileage stays the same. can't change that.

I've had a battery die and replaced and the trip meter was still saved.

yeah, mileage is saved. the whole guage cluster comes apart really easily. just push a few plastic tabs in and the whole thing comes apart. just make sure that when you put everything back together that the needles are where they need to be. that's all you have to worry about.
