2.4L GM Supercharger Kit - Pulley Change
I found some info from other threads about pulleys that can be used with the GM Supercharger Kit for the 2.4L, but the posts are a few years old now. I found this in one of the posts as on option:
http://pulleyboys.com/gm24l.html
Has anyone swapped pulleys before? Is the stock kit pulley the 2.8" variety? What would be the difference in boost psi between the 2.8" and 2.7" pulleys? Just looking for some info before I decide to do anything. Thanks.

Buy your pulley stuff from Nate at www.smoothflowpulleys.com . He's on j-body.org too. E-mail him and tell him you need the hub and a 2.7" or 2.6" pulley for the MP45 supercharger. Far cheaper than Pulley Boys.
You can either use the tool they sell for a lot of money or rent a power steering puller (free if you return it afterward), pull off the stock (2.8") pulley, then get a propane torch and cook the new pulley hub until it glows red hot (about 15 minutes), then slide it onto the shaft with pliers. You only have 2-3 seconds to get it on and in place before it cools.
That's the risky route. If you don't feel safe doing that, get the puller or borrow the puller/installer from someone on j-body.
All of these questions and more will be answered on Aleromod.com Upgrades soon enough.

hahaha I would lack the dexterity to do that
I thought the pulley was just unbolting from the shaft. (with an enormous torque though)
Whats the difference in psi from .1 inch out of a pulley?

1.5 - 2 PSI per 0.1" smaller
62mm TB seemed to add about 1 PSI and of course better throttle response and more flow is always better
since the stock pulley is a press on style it takes effort to get it off and a modular hub on. once the hub is on though new pulley changes are SUPER EASY, 5 allen bolts and the pulley slides off

Since im not going forged soon, I think I'll leave the pulley to stock size and go with 62 mm TB and full exhaust. Maybe secret cams on the way. And call it a day.
Milzy TB is a direct bolt on without rerouting of vacuums and cables?
My guess with all that it will give me around 220-230 hp. Not bad

I'm not sure if the TB between the 3400 and the LD9 are the same, and Milzy is all 3400. I don't think they are interchangeable. On the Aleromod.com Upgrades site I have the MRZ and RSM as the ideal throttle body swaps. Not sure on the others.

Oh, I mixed up. But still, I ask same question for both of them:
Direct bolt on without any rerouting of cables and vacuums?

The RSM and MRZ throttle bodies are a direct swap. Milzy's is for the 3400. I believe there are TB differences between the 3400 and 2.4L.

Sure thing. I got mine for $100 off j-body, super cheap. Otherwise it's $370 on PFYC. (You get refunded $100 though once they receive your stock TB)

I'm running stock everything, except for the supercharger of course. What psi would be safe before headers etc were needed? It's my daily driver and I don't have much to spend on the car, but I do love boost.

Do a full 2.5" exhaust, get the supercharger, put on a 2.6" modular pulley, spray methanol to intercool the supercharged air.

As a sidenote I'm trying to keep things simple so that I can still be covered by my insurance agency. The supercharger is ok, but if I start messing with fuel mixtures and stuff I think they are going to get retarded about things. Last time I talked to them they seemed pretty concerned about what they call "street racing". =)

Heh your insurance will cover your modifications as long as you tell them what you put on and what it cost. Otherwise if something happens you get to repair/buy a new one out of your own pocket.
Supercharger Kit: $1580
Modular Hub: $50
Modular Pulley: $40
Methanol Injection Kit: $250
Full exhaust: $300ish for parts

heh TurboTechRacing, shipping's pretty cheap through them as well
also on topic about pulley change, the Supercharging page on Aleromod.com Upgrades is now complete, including full How-Tos on boost gauge installation and pulley changing.
