i'm doing my first wiring job on a car and i am good with everything except i'm not sure where to ground my wires. I know you can do it to any part of the chassis, but i want an easy spot thats close. I am doing wiring for under the dash so id rather not ground it into the trunk, any ideas on a good place to attach the ground?

if you are doing any kind of center console work, (like under the radio stuff) or can access that easily, i loosened one of the large bolts under there, and connected a big ground wire to it. works great for me. Of course, i put a small distro block on that larger wire, so i can connect several smaller to it.
hope this helps.

Ya, pretty much any nut or bolt you can take off that is connected to the metal body (not like plastic trim), if you can't find anything decent just get some self tapping screws and drill into the body with those, make sure that you are safe where drilling though (no wiring harnesses or fuel tank/line right underneath on bottom side of car).

what i did is was just take the ground wire that is in the cigarette lighter on the side of the center console by passenger seat and pushed it out, spliced it and used that as my ground, i also used the same concept for power as well since the lighter has NEVER been used other than to custom wiring.

That would probably work, but i ran a line form my battery so i would need to ground it somewhere else because i don't want to remove the cigarette lighter source just for a ground when i can do it to a bolt or something.

i found a good spot, i opened the fuse area next to the driver side so i could see better as i was running wires and i found a perfect bolt to attach it to in there and its easy access.

For power you can use a fuse in the fuse box but just make sure to put an inline in between the fuse and the wire this way it you blow the fuse you dont blow the car fuse. For the ground do what cherrington and racin4jc said. If you cant find a bolt to losten get yourself a zippy. Like a little 1/4 inch screw and drill it where ever you like and wrap the grounds around it before you screw it in all the way.
