2.2 Supercharger
I know this thread is here somewhere - but I couldn't find it.
So here tis',
For the 2.2L, we have basically the same engine and components as the Sunfire/cavalier. Will the Superchargers designed for those engines fit our own? such as http://tunersource.gmblogs.com/Acces...-supercharger/ ?
Does anyone here have a 2.2 Supercharged? If they do, I'd really like to have a chat about where you got it and installing it. Thanks for the info.

It will fit, you would just need the tuning. The tuning for the cavy and sunfire isnt the same as the alero, so youd have to go HP tuners for the tuning.

if you can get your hands on one at a reasonable price go for it but be sure to follow the advice in Valley olds post your going to need hp tuners you should dyno pretty close to 200hp after install if the tune is done right but there is a Large number of variables that could lower or increase that number. keep in mind 200 is the number gm says it gives the J-bods so I'm just guessing with what I've read, I also don't know if that number is at the wheels or the flywheel.

No hes has the 2.4 but he was selling the supercharger for the 2.2 a while back dirt cheap too Its the MP62, u can go to a junk yard and try to find one off a cobalt SS or Ion Redline, but youd need to get it tuned, Aleros cant read boost

I'm not sure if there is anyone rocking a supercharged 2.2 Alero, my dad says it would be a cool Idea, but I'm more hell bent on buying a muscle car to build instead.

There is a great list of what's needed to do the 2.0L LSJ supercharger swap over on Jbody.org so far the biggest issue is you need a custom throttle body adapter. and of course HP tuners to tune your PCM. I could post the link if anyone wants it.

I hear that, my old mans pushing the same thing - an old chev Nova or Monte.
There's gotta be a way to push some serious balls out of this car. I just wanted to avoid the turbo, I don't have the skill for open engine surgury for the forged components

it's about power, not the method of achieving it, that determines if the engine components need to be strengthened.

the ecotec engine is known to put out some insane numbers I think gm got it up to 250 horse on factory internals before the connecting rods went and the race engines put out well over 1000 horse so it can be done you just gotta have the bank account to afford it. The thing I like about old school muscle is how easy it is to find parts and how cheap it is well with the small block Chevy's that and I can do most of the work on them myself and some with the help of my dad, and for the price you pay you can get pretty sweet numbers both on the dyno and at the track.

I'd be happy with 200 - that would be a HUGE difference from the stock numbers, the stupid 2.2 is tricky for modding up though, bank is not an issue.
Any ideas to boost up the hp on current stock internals?

I would just go turbo if you can. 200 is attainable on stock internals. The stock motor can handle a small amount of boost. Might want to check out Hahn, Vulcan, or maybe a saab kit.
