I don't really plan on doing it but I just had to ask. Will the monte carlo's 3.8L fit in our Alero?

Sure, and its been asked a Million times. No one has ever done it in a Alero, but it has been done in GA's. Another question would be, is it worth it? and the answer is no you can spend the same momey and get more power out of your 3400.

um... how about you keep this on topic, germ...
anyway... it will fit. if you want to REALLY cram an engine in there... there are a few people i've seen w/ the V8 northstar (termed shortstar) engine. it fits in our cars like a viper engine. litterally no room left anywhere.

soo not worth it.... my alero would be right next to a 3.8 monte carlo. s/c or t/c or do engine work and you'll still spend less then what it would cost to put in a 3.8

I am gong to put in a 3800 L67, which i am goning build up with the MP112 supercharger, stroker kit, and verious other thinks and the stock tranny that comes with the engine which will also be rebuilt. it will fit with some modifications to suspension and more then likly custom drive axles.
When i get started i will start to post pics of everything.

hahah, and 95% of those people are running untuned or a crappy tune or are running some hack job fuel management setup. to avoid blowing up, you have to tune the car. and if i recall the many posts on the s/c GA's, their biggest problem is the tranny blowing, not their engines.
ive been boosted for a while now and the only reason why i chunked a piston is due to a faulty spark plug thread that allowed the top of the piston to meet the bottom of the spark plug.
so whomever told you your info or however you came to the conclusion that the 3400 cant handle boost, you may actually want to boost your car before you believe everything you read on the internet.

show me 1 99 + ga or alero that has a working l67
i can show you pics of someone who spent thousands and thousands, and hours and hours and it still doesn't run right

both the motors are underpowered. so they both arent really worth fixing up.unless you have alot of spare cash.
too me. i'd be satisfied with the 3400 being supercharged. get yourself a nice full exhaust.....a nice PCM. maybe some pulley love, and i'd really just call it good.
sure you can make just about any car fast. but the questio nreally is......do you have the money.
when money is no object you can go ape poop. :P

the 3.8 is a much better motor to build...... much bigger aftermarket..... and those thigns run forever.... my bro had a 97 GpGt with about 170,000 and runs like new. only work ever done on it was the water pump 5,000 ago

ummmm, ok.
not sure where you have been looking, but the 3400 and 3800 have about the same amount of engine mods that can be made, just not as many options....
the only thing that the 3800's have over the 3400's is roller rockers that have a higher ratio.
ill list off some things that both engines have for mods (please feel free to correct me if im wrong)...
forged pistons
forged crank
valve springs
valves
porting and polishing work
under drive pulleys
overdrive pulleys
throttle bodies
turbo kits
supercharger kits
hardened pushrods
cams
aftermarket head gaskets
PCM work
mini AFC
Powertuner
HP Tuners
ICCU
Larger MAF sensors
spark plugs
spark plug wires
hi flow fuel pump
fuel injectors
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
lower temp tstats
aftermarket lifters
double roller timing chain
exhaust
CAI's
WAI's
aftermarket bearings
Headers
built tranny
ok, so im thinking that the 3800's aftermarket isnt bigger than you had thought?

random story that has no relevance to providing any factual information
hell, ive got 3 3100 engines that have over 175k on each of them and the only thing they needed was the lower intake gasket replaced once.
im not saying one engine is better than the other, i just hate when someone says the 3800 is better because there is more aftermarket out there for it.
there is a reason why GM is not bringing the 3800 (90* engines back) and moving forward with their 60* engines.
think about it
