buddy of mine broke a lug nut in the process of taking off his wheels to rotate them. He needs a relatively fast and easy way to get it off.

Thanks

A Hammer a Chisel, or take a center punch and slowly tap it off. Chisel will be fast but may need to replace the lug slowly using a center punch will be the best way but may take a long time.

Well I'd put the other 3 back on first to take some stress off of it. Then maybe take the picture to Discount or Belle Tire and ask what they'd do?

Alright. If you think you can chisel it off without damaging your rim and stud, go for it.

A lug shouldn't just break like that. So either you have crummy lugs, or it was cross threaded or over torqued.

Whats the car? Most ricers torque at 80 lbs, if its a BIG 3 its 100lbs.

Back to the main concern, if you don't think you can get it off without further damage; Take it into discount or belle tire.

They would most likely use an air chisel on something that is decimated such as that :P I work at belle tire.

A stud replacement would run anywhere between 10 and 15 bucks. It would be easier to not worry about the stud, and just chisel that off, so the rim is ok. So, 15 or under I imagine. And if those are crummy lugs or inproper lugnuts, you might want to look into replacing em. I think you could pull a set for 20 bucks. Other than that 1-2 bucks a piece.

If someone was doing service to your vehicle, they would do anything to keep you from leaving their shop with only 3 lugs torqued down. It's a major safety hazard on 4 lug wheels.

Ok, so Vermont doesn't have belle tire. Go to a trusted tire/repair shop.

If a shop does tires, good chance they have experience in fixing problems like this every day.

If you had those wheels put on, go back there. It could have been some negligence oin their part, and service might be free of charge
