Daytona is on a distinguished road
Turns out I'm now going to be part of Team Raceway Park at the NHRA Division 1 Bracket Finals 9/29-10/1. It's being held at US-13 Dragway in Delmar. Got myself a relatively inexpensive hotel room 11 miles away at Microtel in Salisbury, MD ($62.10/night + taxes and service charges).

Will be running the Daytona in the Street Eliminator class. Will pick up my team jacket, shirt, and decals at the RP awards banquet on Sept. 21.

I welcome any native MD/DE folks to stop by the track during the day or the hotel in the evening. Don't know if I'm bringing my laptop to the hotel (free high speed internet access).

damn daytona... if you would stiffin up the rear you'd get alot more traction in your 60ft. and may provide a little more consistent times

it was like night and day in my gti when i went to coilovers.

It's not the travel in my rear, it's the travel in the front. My rear doesn't drop noticeably on launch but my front does lift quite a bit as you can see in the pic (never a good thing for FWD cars). And my times are already pretty consistent with the weather and engine temps remaining constant.

yea, but alot of the front lift is from weight transfer, and any give in the rear multiplies the effects of the weight transfer.

but either way, stiffer suspension all around would help alot

That's a subject for the off-season. Not sure if I'm keeping her for next year or not. If I don't - what can I afford? If I do - what can I afford to do to her to freshen her up. She's got over 170,400 miles on the original stock engine so she either needs a rebuild or a new motor.

Right now I just need her to last the 7 hours round trip to Delmar and the 3 days of racing in between.
