I need some advice here.......

I have Royal Purple in my car and i was wondering if i should change my oil now(cause im over 3,000 miles) or just go another 1,000 miles. Im always keepin up with the oil changes but since the oil is synthetic and it says you could go longer i thought i would. I just wanted to see if the people who have royal purple go longer for their oil changes or do you just do it at 3,000 miles anyway. Thank you.

I run a synthetic through mine that's made for high-mileage vehicles, however, I do still change it every 3k just to be safe.

ive noticed that regardless of how long your oil is stated to go, 3,000 miles is about as long as it goes, i purchased some 5,000 mile synthetic and noticed after 3,000 miles it was already dirty, and regardless dirty oil is bad oil in my opinion.

The oil companies say the oil lasts so many miles but that is actually how long it takes to break down the oil. The whole purpose of a oil and filter change is to get the dirty oil out of the engine.

I ran 4k on my last change with Royal Purple...but I wanted to change at 3k. According to RP it can be change every 9-12k miles, but I would never go that far.

My Alero has 22,800 miles on it now and I think i changed the oil 3 times. Usually averages about 7,000 miles per change, that's when the light comes on. As for my 3400, i have hardly driven it and i think the oil is from December, 2003 or about 5,000 miles ago.

I feel that all this oil lasting 5K, 10K, or even 15K miles is bullshit.

Oil needs to be changed every 3 months / 3000 miles, period

I only put 4,000 miles on the Delta since I bought it, but I changed the oil 3 times already. December first one, Feb. 3 months later, June 3 monts after that, now jsut waiting util Sept.

If Mobil 1 5000 mile forumla lasts that long, why is it the same price as the regualer Mobil 1?

I go between 5,000 and 7,500 miles per change with Mobil 1. I have nearly 110,000 miles on the car, and the motors still strong. Considering the amount of abuse it saw very early on at the track, I think that's pretty good.

Check this out for the longevity of the oil.
