It should be pretty easy to find... one side of the cruise control cable leads right to it. You have a cable on one side and a vacuum connection (tube) on the other. Tube's either cracked (leaks air), disconnected or connected wrong.

Ford calls it a "Vacuum Dump Valve" and on my Escort it's on the brake pedal assembly just under the brake light switch. And it's the first thing I'd check. When the brake pedal is pushed down to brake, the valve should open. Use a MityVac to check it.

Or maybe its a question of computer.

If this were the case, I'd be suspecting the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor).

update.
after bringing her to a shop, she was throwing ten codes.
she has been there for two weeks now.
(it is killing me, i miss her!!!)
they have now said the pump motor for the abs might be bad..
(another $200 part, used)
and, it still might not fix the CC.
UUUUUUUUGGGGGG.

Did you check to see if the track off is staying on. Your cruise will never work with the track off.

cruise should still work with trac off or on. the only time mine quit working was when the red "brake" light was on. Even when the wheel speed sensor was out and svs, trac off, and abs lights were on, it still worked. I guess this doesn't really help, other than to tell you what it isn't...

funny that you say that.
few days before the cc stopped working i was having a blast
in a parking lot.
we call them Baretta slides.
go as fast as you can, hit the ebrake and turn the wheel... WEEEEEEEEEE!!!
now, is there a chance that even though the brake light is NOT on,
that another switch is stuck?
thus, making my CC not work...

^^ I was afraid of that. You prob locked out. If you lose traction when driving the CC stops. You may have tricked your car into thinking the brake is locked up or just messing with the e-brake could have thrown off a sensor.
