Extended caliper locked

I changed my brakes, they were all of the way back on but I took the caliper off of my front passenger side to lube it. I must have done something wrong because it extended about 2" out and now I can't get it to go back in so I can reinstall it. Any idea how to get it to recede again?

A C clamp usually does the trick.

Yeah, I did that, removed the brake line, bled it, etc., etc. Nothing worked so I called Auto Zone and they told me that if I brought the old caliper in, they would give me $30 toward a $75 new one. So I did that. Thanks for your post, though. Greatly appreciated.
