My first comp.

So I did my first dB drag today and I only got 132 db in the super street class. I got third place out of 3 people the other 2 got 148 and 156, now granted I would have never hit 148 but I still should have been in the 140's. My pioneers where shutting off, eff that should not be happening and my breaker popped 3 times, witch it never did before. So I get home after a long day of standing around for 11 hours and check the voltage off the alternator 13.6, so thats pulling 20 amps higher. Time for a new alternator. That powermaster lasted 2 years does that sound wrong to anyone?

But yeah at least very one loved the fiberglass box and is was the best looking glass at the show.

Congrats on 3rd.

Ive never been into the SPL comps, but I went to one. I got 3rd also 135.5 dBz

2 10" Arc Audio KARs... lol, people were like when they seen what did that.

After my run I was demoing it out for people. Had the trunk lid open and a dust cap blew off the sub.... lol

I was feeding the subs double rated power.

132 Db is pretty good. Hitting higher Dbs doesn't always require more power in the sense of needing more battery or bigger amps. Having the right setup ie tuning of your sub enclosure and know the frequency that your subs performs best will make all the difference in the world.

I hit 134 with 3 subs and one amp and using the same gear and a different box the next time, I hit 144.5 Db

My current setup that I'm building will have 10 times more power and much bigger subs but it's probably only going to hit maybe low 150's. Reason being that I'm building this for SQ and for show.

I know what you mean with the 10's, there was I guy that talked to he had 2 10" JL's in a s-10 and hit 139.1.

But I did learn allot and now I want to redo every thing basically.

1. Better alternator and better batteries.
2. Sonys are gone, if I am going with pioneer everything will be pioneer.
3. Take it down to 4 subs and get better amps.
4. New subs means new fiberglass box.

And next comp that I get placed into super street I will remember to bring more tools to take out my front seats.

I just need a job and money.

My buddy is over in Medina, not to far from you.

He is a member of Team Maxxsonics. His friend is also an avid SPL competitor.

If thats the route you wish to take I would hop on my forum and chat it up with these guys.

I know Bill is working on a panel van build right now today. Looks like 10 12" subs and lots of amps, budget stuff...

Should be awesome when done. Loud as always.

My thing with most SPL guys is it looks like poop. Masically its on, one note, 5 second burp and off.

To me, Im not interested. I want something I can listen to on a daily basis.

Well I did my second comp today, same place, same judge Steve Mick, Tempro mics.

My set up now is the 2 12" pioneers and the one 2000rms amp, the boxes are 1.87^ and ported to 35hz.

This time I was in the street B class with only one other guy. My first run I hit 133.8 on music and then 137.3 on my second run. Street B is with the car off and I did not get to run with the car on, so maybe a little louder then the 137.3. The other guy hit 139 in a hatchback with 2 12"s.

So 6db louder and all I had to do was take out 3 subs and 2 amp.

You need a batt in the back with some balls.

If you want to shoot for SPL talk to BWCAD1. Hes our CAC resident SPL nut.

I know you got an optima up front. Time to think about a Kinetik or similar for the back.

A second battery would be nice but then it puts me into the Street C class. I'd almost be better taking one of the subs out and going into Street A, my Spl gain off of one sub can't be that high. Before I put the 2nd 12" in, the one 12" was handling 1500rms for short amounts of time.

But on a lighter note, once again every one loved the glass, even though it was the rear deck this time and there is no paint.

This sub http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU.../TS-W3001D2|D4

The cast-aluminum basket is what kept me out of the street stock class and with the car running no telling what I would have hit.

Well... The sub in the rear deck didnt help you, at all.

glass work is nice, but usually it cant get numbers. Actually you cant probably find many or any SPL competitors with glass based boxes. Most glass in SPL if for extra rigidity.

In our cars- if you can have the seats folded down its an absolute must. Ports and subs to the front.

If you want I can run your subs thru the box program and give you a recommendation.
