well this was kinda a rush job and not very straight, just like me. lol but anyway, i half assed it today just to get an idea on what it's gonna look like. ya'll can tell me what you think, as i know you will. like i said, it's not straight or even for that matter but i didn't use anything to space it. started out just using the backing off the pinstripe and scotch tape but i didn't care much about how even it was since it was just to give me an idea. oh and ignore the dirt.

looks good so far, the great thing about pinstripe is that it will come right off if u don't like it. Or you can do cutouts with a razor (olds symbol or sumthin) to break the lines. On the red car, looks good, prolly smokin further away. Can't wait to get started on mine.

That looks damn good Marie. I'd do something like that to my car, but I think with blue it would look stupid.

thanks. i don't think it would look bad on yours. you'll never know unless you try. it's cheap so there's not much to lose. i think i'll re-do that one and then do the rest of it prolly saturday.

Lookin good Marie ! I wouldn't worry all that much about the lines being perfectly straight ( although it's nice ) 'cause i'm thinking that when the project is all done, people are looking @ the big picture, and not really scrutinizing it. When you finish the rest of the tails, take a pic from about 6-8 feet away...you'll see what I mean.

Like i said before if you put it closer together the light still shines thru fine, especially if your using the vinyl striping. I just hate how the taillights control the whole look of the back of our cars, that's why i've covered them up so much.

Is that 1/2"spacing?
|
well since the spacing is smaller than the pinstriping, and the pinstriping is the same 1/4 that turtle used, i'm guessing no :P
it's 1/8th, but i think the black makes it look like more, i dont know.

i have the outers done, but not the inners, i dont feel like standing out in the sun, and for some reason i cant find my deep well socket that fits on the nut to pull the inners out, too bad they arent like the outers... oh well.
and turtle, i'm having a little trouble with the chrome bubbling a little on the curved parts near the edges (at the top) anything to remedy this?
and i'm not even sure if i like it on my car...

i think i might go all black, with very little spacing in between. with the black and chrome, from far it just looks like chrome with alot of spacing.

thanks eric. i just looked again from about 10 feet away and it's really got me motivated to finish it up. i'll keep ya'll updated. i will say, i'm gonna get some funny looks driving around with just one inner taillight done so maybe i'll sacrifice some sleep and moving time tomorrow to get it done.

You don't have to take the lights out to put it on, just do it on the car. The bubbling with the chrome is the reason i'm gonna redo mine. I think it just doesn't stretch enough with the curve. Next time i'll pull it really tight. having put both black and chrome on your car, which would you say is easier to put on?

pat, you should try that.
and talking about the bubbles around the corners, i had that problem but i pulled it back just about an inch and then heated it up with a hair dryer just a little bit (for like 3 seconds since it's so thin). hold the free end in one hand and use your index finger on the other hand and stick it back on, slowly. i'm not sure about the chrome because it's probably thicker, but for those that are gonna use black, you can try that.

well the black and chrome were just as easy, but the black looks perfect, the chrome is a different material, and doesnt really stretch, for me anyway. so im gonna go all black, with less spacing...
i also found that using 1/8th was pretty much a waste of alot of time, it's pretty easy to eyeball, and as you can see, mine looks pretty good. too bad i spent 5 bucks on some white 1/8th i'll never use again, lol
and i know i dont have to take the lights out, but would you rather do it sitting in a/c watching tv, or outside in the tennessee heat? exactly.
