Double din guys......

How much of the inside of the dash did you guys have to remove to get your double din to fit? I bought one last week and went to put it in my 02, but it looks like I will need to remove the vertical metal brace in the back just to get it to sit flush. Is this something everyone else has encountered as well?

I believe most people use a din and a half, not a double din....

LOL, there aren't any more 1.5din radios available aftermarket, and the original choices were slim at best...

Most use a DIN size, but there are some that use a double, which is the factory height.

Yeah, I have a single DIN DVD right now, but prefer the look of a double.

yeah to get my double in i had to cut out the metal brace in the back, and i had to trim the bezel on the bottom in the corners just a tad, should take you like 5 mins for a perfect fit.

all i had to do was cut the plastic in the back and it fit snug!! the metal brace helps hold your deck solid in place!! dont cut it if you can!!

if you plan on gettin subs make sure you mount it tight!!! and if you got any skill id do it myself....you will be taking it out more then once in the future.. may as well get the practice in!!

ie. adding bluetooth, navi, backup cam, rear screens, ipod, or even to change out some bad rca's lol

it wasnt that hard

I have already cut all the plastic to fit my single DIN, and it still wasn't enough. And of course I do all the work myself. I'm too cheap to pay someone else to do it.

I have a double Din JVC X610 in my 03 alero GLS.... All that had to be done was take out some plastic in the back.. And shave about 1mm off the inner part of the outter plate.. Otherwise it fit fine
