I have a 2000 GLS w/ a 3.4. It has 38, 500 miles on it.

Two days ago, I replaced the water pump. At least now that doesn't leak any more!

Looking at the engine yesterday, I saw that I now have a LIM gasket leak. How wonderful. From one problem to another. :Noooo: GM says that its a 7.5 hour job. All parts cost me 150, now I have to be grounded for a while. I'll probably do it in a couple weeks. It looks like its only leaking externally for the time being.

I shouldn't have this problem with only 38k.!

Anybody ever done this before?

its NOTORIOUS for that problem, myself plus practically every other v6 owner on here has had it replaced. the cost to get mine fixed was $450 i think and they charged me 6 hours of labor.

Exactly as said by SweetNLow- I smelled coolant, looked underneath, it had sprayed on the hood and upper rad support.

As of right now, I've got the whole thing torn apart-(parts everywhere, about to take of the LIM)

The only thing I'm really worried about is whether or not I'm going to be able to get it all put back together

Very funny. I already need new rotors, maybe calipers. I'm hoping that'll be it.

I'm thinking about selling this thing and getting one with a 2.2 Ecotech and an MTX. I had one of those and it was quick and reliable, albeit loud.

I had mine warrantied. Otherwise I was going to return the car and take back my 2.4 alero I traded in.

I had my LIM go at ~100 k. Took the car in for the big service, as she was running rough. So I expected the $100 - 250 service. They called, I cried a little, as the bill was $1300 in the end. The kicker is three weeks later the water pump exploded, another $400 later. Althought the cause was the stress put on by the oil in the coolant this was not covered under the first repair, F***in GM!
