Adding Extra Fans and Wiring

I really didn't know what section to put this in, as it pertains to Audio, but also pertains to interior, and since a lot of you wire LED's in, I thought I may get the most help here.

Ok. Even after a quality wiring job and good ground connection, my 4 Channel gets a little warm, so I want to install a few small 12v fans.

What I want to know, is where to wire them to? I want them to be on whenever the car is on. (well really, I want them to be on when the amp is, but the amp is usually on when the car is, so oh well). Obviously the ground, I just ground to the chasis, I am not worried about that.

I have a Kenwood deck installed, it has a Red Wire that is the 12v Ignition Wire/Acc Wire, would I wire my hot/power to that? Also, someone mentioned in my LED thread that I could possibly wire to the Yellow ignition wire, I haven't opened it up, since I am still waiting for LED supplies, but is this an option?

Will this create any problems with Passlock? Anyone have any other suggestions on where to wire it to?

safe bet... you don't want to be cutting/splicing essential wires.

Use a relay, and get the signal wire from a fuse tap that protects an item that turns on when the car turns on.

I suppose, don't want to potentially hurt anything while trying to help something else, haha.

Any good ideas as to what fuse to use? I would like to use a 10a fuse if possible, since the only fuse taps around here are the "add a fuse" type that support 10a only.

driver's side fuse panel...

read the inside of the fuse door and pick one that runs with the car. Also.. pick one where the "add a fuse" tap fits.

I was at my car shop today, and they also had fuse tap/add a fuse adapters that supported more than 10a fine. Would the wiper fuse be one that is always on when the car is?

I think the answer is yes, but I am not sure if the fuse is before or after the switch to turn the wipers on.

Anyone have any opinions on what fuse to use? I don't have a manual or a book with my car, so I don't know exactly what all the fuses control by their abbreviations in the panels. What about "Radio Batt" fuse, is that a constant power source or no?

we just did this in my wife's cousin's Durango. We built an amp rack under the rear storage area and installed fans on both ends and ran dryer vent hose to the outside vents (that come out behind the rear lights). We hooked the fans into the fog lights so he could have a switch.

I would think for as little draw as the fans would have you would want to stick to around a 10A fuse

I already figured it out. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I ended up using the Windshield wiper fuse. It doesn't actually use the fuse it taps into, just basically adds a power source to a line and adds another fuse dedicated to that line only. 5a fuse running 18g wire all the way back to the fans. I actually have them out right now to build a better mounting bracket, but they worked fantastic.
