I bought A for $25 at napa. It is easy to use but you do need to make sure that you compress the spring evenly by switching sides while you tighten, other than that it is no big deal.

If you work at a shop use theres and if not buy A, fairly cheap from auto zone and there easy as shit to use

I think A is your only option. If you are compressing it to put on a strut the the threaded shaft of B and C will be in the way so the spring would not fit over the shaft of the strut.

This is correct. I just did mine and tried with both the B and C types (which are basically the same btw) and learned that they are not the right kind.

You didn't mention why you want to buy one. Just for the Alero? Or for all cars? Can't say for sure since the only one I've ever used looked like something outta frankensteins lab and would probably work for anything. I've also seen a few posts that a couple fat friends works well.
