If you're talking about the performance aspect, Magnaflows (or any straight thru muffler) are the way to go. You can always add a resonator if it's too loud for you. The sound from a muffler, while still important, should be secondary when you're building an exhaust to make more power.

My Magnaflow sounds awesome all around, idle, accel, cold, hot....i have no complaints about it and to me it was money WELL spent! hell even the guy that installed it didnt expect it to sound like it does out of an alero!

If I was that into Magnaflows, I'd have one.
My point was, when building an exhaust to extract the most power, a straight thru muffler (like a Magnaflow) is the way to go, instead of a chambered or reverse flow muffler, and the first thing to take into consideration should be how well the muffler flows, not what it sounds like.
I do have a Magnaflow high flow cat though

Yep, it's OBD II certified and doesn't throw a check engine light.

I have a Megan Racing muffler
When I build my new exhaust I'm going to use a Magnaflow spun high flow cat, a long resonator, and this Vibrant flat black muffler with dual tips, all 3" tubing from the turbo back with the tubing routed under the rear subframe.

yes the alero is a n-body and so is the alero so they are the same wexcept for the body. I need an exhaust on the cheap so I just got the pacesetter kit for $240 shipped (not bad for mandrel bent 2.25 tube)
here is where I got it
its on clearance and they told me I got the last one but I don't beleive em.
