Grinding Brakes/rotors

Heya all.
Has anyone else experienced a grinding ( err! ) noise when braking right after starting up? It seems to be more of an issue in cold weather for me. Also, it's only really evident after initially starting the car.
I'd like to hear if anyone else has experienced this and/or if action is necessary.

It happens to me also. After braking two or three times it goes away though. I've always thought that it was because of a little rust that might have formed over night due to the snow and such...

this is what i have a little noise when breaking but i have been told that it is because moisture getting inbetween the rotor and breaks.
but i dont think that is what it is because now i park in a garage and i still get that but since i put new breaks and rotors all the way around i still hear the noise when i break.but not all the time maybe it has something to do with the rac steering

thats what happened to me and my mechanic said we had a sensor that's like a metal tab when the brakes and roters get low. So maybe that's what it is and when myalerogl got his done maybe the sensor wasn't pull back out. But I'm supposed to get my brakes and stuff done tuesday and he pulled the sensor out to stop the noise for me.

I have the same noise, it only happens to me in the mornings. After a couple stops it disappears. I went and had my brakes checked out and they told me they were find and it was common for that model of braking system from GM.

Probably just rust. Not a problem in the least.

When your pads are low there is a metal tab (on the pad itself) that will hit your brakes to warn you to get new pads, but that is probably not the case. Electronic sensors are for more $$ cars.
