Torque converter lock up rpm?

Okay, not entirely sure what to call it. I believe the torque converter is locking up. I was skimming through here just reading random threads and learning. Then I came across a thread that was discussing transmission slip. The guy stated to test for slip you would essentially power brake it (tires obviously are not going to turn over lol). Hold the brake and mash the throttle. He said it's not supposed to get above 2,000-2,300 rpms while doing this then I saw another thread Overdrive had commented on saying rpms should sit at 2,500 +/-100. Mine stops right at 2,500 so does that mean my transmission is starting to slip? Of course this is just for like a two second period before I let off. Thanks for any input you can offer.

It depends. I don't think it's a good test. Here's some information on stall speed:

Thanks. Yeah that makes some sense. I probably could have worded my question better, but what I was looking for was any transmission slip. I know I have an issue with the silinoid acting up some and just wanted to see if tranny was slipping at all.

Get a bunch of big guys to sit in your car and take off from a stoplight. You'll know if it's slipping.

Or under high RPM it will feel like the car isn't going much faster.

A little OT, but how do you plan to hold your car steady off the line before launch? I can remember some guys using the E-brake, but there are better ways to do it

Good question. I hadn't thought of it yet. Hmm.

If the track is flat I shouldn't roll forward/back right? lol
