alright, so the next question is how do i recover the .hpt file? i'm an electronics technician, so whatever that device is up top, how do i make it? i'll email whatever i can, just kind of walk me through getting the .hpt file off the ecu.

ion, couldn't you just put the ecu in your own car, and then get the file off of it? that way i would ship just the computer. you don't have to start your car, just put it in, and then get what you need. $$ available to anyone with help.

The device up top is only an interface to connect the PCM to a scanner when PCM is out of the vehicle.

You still need HP Tuners (etc.) to read the file.

i'm in desperate need of someone to send my ecu to. all you would have to do is to put it in your car and hook it up to hptuners. i really only need the fuel injector size verified for me. i need someone just to let me know what injectors should be in the motor. i would definately foot all of the cost. please someone give me a hand.

Well, there's good and bad news with this one...

Good, I got the tune off the PCM in question..

Bad, the PCM is flashed as a 2001 cavalier, so I can't flash it unless I get the VIN changed or use 2 credits ($100).

well...so much for Shifted on jbo. that idiot jacked it up pretty good. and he took my $250 so he could buy oldsmobile credits. sounds like he ripped me off. I'll be trying to get ahold of him to get my money back. at this point, I'm going to need to have it wiped and put my vin into it. is paypal alright?

Spy, Ion, anybody else get a chance to look over the tune yet? the motor has secret cams, 370cc injectors, 58mm throttle body. those are really the only internals and things to keep in mind that i can think of. also, the supercharger has the 10lb pulley on it.

Well, the situation could have been that he put wrote his J-Body VIN'd file to it which he already had credits for, but in order to write it at all you would need at least the single vehicle license (2 credits) for your specific VIN. But he didn't change the VIN on the tune which makes me temporarily SOL.

I don't know how much of an ordeal it is to re-flash it with your stock VIN with a tech 2, but I do know someone who has one.

you need an n-body version of the flash. the jbody one as I read in a post on a guy from gaoc.com made his gauges go out. different pinouts between the n-body and j-body ecu's i'm sure.

When i get around to finding my laptop. I'll pull out a stock file. Just so everybody knows, it's for a 5spd equipped vehicle.

bump. any luck on the tech2 flash cliff? i'm thinking flash it with my vin, write the supercharger tune, change the injector constant for my red tops, and we're all set. any thoughts?

Ok, so I got the clean-slate official GM supercharger flash done and now the PCM has the right OS on it. There were definitely some issues that would've made the old one bad even if it did stay running (mainly trans settings were all different).
