lol u mad ken?
you say im wrong and have no idea what im doing.....thats pretty cool for some reason i feel like that makes you "the better person"? you just made like 3 attempts to correct me on something and then made no effort to prove me wrong...i dont know why you did that
anyways 2nd time now, TN tags are gone thats why i had to get it inspected for MD tags.
4th time now, i didnt pay for all of this i merely paid a portion, and in order for the vehicle to pass the vehicle has to pass the MD state inspection shop and be approved....
2nd time now, i cant remove my tranny in my drive way and take it apart, i cant remove my top end in my drive way and replace my lifters.
thats why whatever a shop wants to charge, so effin be it, i have a warrenty just for situations like this....its called mechanical failure.
i also refuse to trust ebay engines and trannies.
and of course i used trade in. who else would buy a broken worthless alero...do you know how many running good condition aleros are for sale right now?
your sassy input towards who knows what about an alero and how to "do an alero" ken once again raises my eyebrow on what you even know best. You post skimmed i want to say 3 times about how much i paid and who paid what for a fix, and then just automatically assume "op this teenage kid doesnt know how to work on an alero, im 30 years older than him so i know way more than him". In turns this must mean you have every tool on hand including your $9,000 scan tool, and would be ripe and randy for anything the alero can throw at you. Right? because obviously "you know what your doing".
its like every thread i make you have some form of an insult or personal attack. you have your opinions and i have mine.....doesnt mean you have to go to an extent to show them. you didnt have to post, you didnt have to do anything, hell you still havent provided any input as towards what i asked.
Ryan and surreal seemed to be the only ones who provided understanding info....what did you do ken? what did you do right?

imo, with all the trouble you've had over the past... what? several years (if i remember correctly) i'd trade it. Even if your trading for another alero. Yours has been nothing but trouble, espicially with things you can't fix on your own (or can't find whats causing it, to be ABLE to fix it)
sell the aftermarket you had stripped off, and start new with something else. This car is cursed.

No, that isn't wrong. The chassis is still a S14.
It's like referring to the Alero as a GMX-130.

you guys dont live in the state of maryland, so you guys dont realize how much higher labor and parts are through the roof......this is the state that will charge you 500$ for a headlight on a 95 silverado.....this is the state that will fail your car if you have a steering wheel cover, this is the state that installs catalytic converters for a grand.....
you guys fail to realize how many places i have gone to.... no one can contemplate how little respect a oldsmobile will get.
yes any modifcation to any vehicle is illegal no matter what state your in. try putting a cam and heads in your car then taking your no longer made vehicle to the dealer and ask them why it wont hold an idle. dont think for one effing second you will be treated like a wet puppy in the rain.
and as far as 2100$ on parts went, who hear knows of a place that will replace, a exhaust system from the downpipe back, a strut, ignition module,a wheel hub, front end alignment, a steering rack and pinion assembly.......the car went through hours and hours of labor.....but to be honest i didnt pay for all of it....like i said...i have an extended warrenty.
back in TN converters were 50$ and there was no enforced window tint law, and every vehicle on the TN road was a emissions test virgin.
but i dont live in TN, i live in a highly strict state of emissions with the goal of price gouging.
ive looked for used engines and find engines from 800-1500, and brand new ones for 2,400, trannies in the same ballpark.
but who can put those in? not me i dont have the tools i dont have the garage, i dont have the time.....im no more than a driveway joe. i cant just say "oh hay i want a F40, and a fully built LA1, and snap my fingers"
more suggestion please no more posts on price rates

right, i dont refer to vehicles by body code, only by the manufacturer badge in the door sill. Theres no way i would refer to my vehicle by just a body code, has anyone here taken thier car to a shop and said "yeah i need you to change the tires on my GMX-130".....not me
its like people refering to thier car to EG,EK,AP.....assanine
its no different than calling every, malibu, achieva, grand am, and alero a N-body.... the N can represent all the cars...instead you could just easily say the cars model....and not body code

Well, newer GMs aren't often referred to by their chassis codes aside from the trucks (eg. GMT-800).
However, many people do describe the older cars by their body letter designation. Especially the A, G and B body cars. Same with mopars.
And the term "Fox Body" and "SN-95" gets tossed around with ford owners.
BMW (especially the 3 series, E30, E36, etc.. ) and almost all Mercedes models are also identified by their chassis designations too (W140, W124, R129, etc..)..
