I just recently found a dyno near by. Im going to set up an appt to get the car in and run a couple baseline pulls.

Having never done this before I have a couple questions:

1. Does the fact that the car still has a govenor on it affect the results in anyway?
2. How long does each pull last
3. Any other tips to get proper results?

I've never dynoed a car, but I'll try to answer your questions.

1. The governor won't affect the run, they won't take the car to the governor.
2. don't know
3. Make sure they are running a fan through your radiator, and make sure that the thermometer for the dyno is in the same environment as the dyno. Read: if the dyno is inside and out of the sun, make sure the thermometer is not in the sun, and vice versa. You can shade the thermometer with your body if it is in the sun. Having the temp sensor in a different environment than the dyno will greatly effect the results. You will show less horsepower than you should if it is the sun and the dyno is not, and vice versa.

Also the operator has ALOT to do with the results; Its real easy to show "good results" just by knowing what parameters to tweak on the dyno. Make sure the shop has a good rep; see if they have references (most good places can give you one or two past clients to talk too) and see what they have to say.

He has a pretty good rep. The Olds Club of Minnesota held one of their meetings there. It should be interesting.

I go in tomorrow at noon so ill try to post some results this weekend if I can get to a scanner.
