Okay, the light came on and I am convinced that I really do have low pressure. Thing is, my valve caps are so friggin' tight, I can't get them off! I even tried using one of those rubber things you use to open jar lids. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Also: I think there is a hole in the stem of one of the tires. because it is softer than all of the rest. (And the Potenza is the only one with great tread still, and inflated at a decent amount...and I only have different tires on my car because I can't afford to get a whole set all at once.)

You might have to try a pair of pilers to open the cap but be careful. A lube like wd-40 or 3 in 1 may help too. But working in tight spaces like that, could prove messy.

If you use pilers, be careful not to pull the stem off the tire

I've found that the light can go off under funny circumstances. I was driving home on a really windy day at about 110 km/hr, and the car was being pushed sideways due to the wind. My LTP light came on, so I pulled off at a gas station, pulled out my trusty tire pressure gauge and went to work. All of the tires were perfect... nothing even close to the 12 psi off that it requires.... so I reset the light and off I went.

Oh yeah... to reset the light, turn the car to ON (but don't start it), and open the D/S fuse box. There's a little RESET button there... press it once, and your "change oil" light will come on. Press it again, and your LTP light should flash. Hold it until the chime goes (should be like 5 sec...) and your light will be reset. I think it's right (going off the top of my head here), but I know that it's in the manual.

Hope that helps!

And resetting it also serves to recalibrate the system. So when you reset, make sure your pressures are all perfect.

Oh, I knew how to fix the light...I was just to lazy to do it. (I mean, what kind of dork would I be asking the same question twice? It WAS the first question I asked when I joined the old boards back in June. :P)

I had that same problem before, having the valve caps stuck onto the stem. Even the wrench techinque and holding the stem with one hand and turning with the other free hand, did not suck. My valve caps were erroded on the stem. You might want to try Discount Tire Center, check to see if they have on by you, if they cant get it, they will just replace all your valve stems with new ones....The charge i'm not sure exactly, because they did not charge me for anything, and also rotated my tires for me.

Yeah, at when I first started classes and Jimmy had the car all day job hunting, he drove around town for about a week with the light on. The first day it came on he checked the tires and aired up the one that was low (but only by about 2psi; our light is really sensitive). But he didn't know how to reset the light and kept forgetting to mention it to me. It still hadn't reset after a week and he had driven a lot.
