Code P1404-Auxillary

Code p1404- temperature control circuit.
IAT-B circuit
malfunction/egr

does anyone know what those are, and have any info to help me out and what price range i"m looking at. Thanks for any help.

Did a little bit of searching, and here's what I got:

P1404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Pintle Stuck Open
P1404 Heated Catalyst Current too High During Heating (Bank 2) (BMW)
P1404 EGR Closed Position Performance (GM)

A new EGR valve (if you do need one) is about $80 according to one of the online GM parts stores.

Another site I saw (http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/cars/...1330266590.html) suggested that it's not difficult. Maybe a DIY project?

I just got my EGR replaced this mornig and the part was $302 CAD. Labour was only $37 CAD.

Okay, so it depends fiercely upon the year. 97-99 with the 2.4 is about $200, the 3.4 is $150. 2000 and beyond is about $80 regardless of the year. So it's all about what year...

you could probably get away with cleanin the one you have for a while, but i'd suggest you replace it soon.
