ok, last night was my first night at the track it was so much fun!! it was hot import night at bradenton race way(old desoto speedway) in south fl. awesome.
me and my friends all drove up there and half way i was like NOOO i forgot my camera. so, no pics...next time though!
anywho. thought all you 2.4's would wanna know that all i've done is 17" rims with low pro ventus and BTW I JUST GOT MY INTAKE 2 DAYS AGO!!! aem short ram, it's so badass! but that's it. those, and amoco ultimate for 3/4's of a tank my alero did 15.02 at 90 mph. I was amazed! thank you and i now need a timeslip made next time(weren't doing any last night) so i'm not lying. so of the cars there were awesome, and i wasn't even planning on racing but the night was winding down(1am) and he wanted to do a couple runs.
I'm now addicted to this. one hit and you can't quit. the adrenaline of it was so nice...
those that read my story, cool. i understand if you didn't though. just wanted to share a first time experience.

Welcome to the club. And that's an awesome time, if you read the clocks right and the timing system was correct. Next time, try to go when they have timeslips and then post your slips up.

wow, thats amazing. My stock alero at GAP 02 could only trap a MAX of 85 mph (we had no slips, cause no power) This is a 5 speed too.

sorry man, with what you've done, that is an insanely fast time. To trap a nearly 15 flat at 90 mph, you've got to be pushing around 200 horsepower in a car that weighs 3000lbs (ours). I wish factory freaks with 50 extra horsepower existed, but they don't in 4 cylinder na cars. I'm not calling you a liar, but without slips, it's your word against the many other people with lightly modded 2.4's running 15.9-16.4 at the best. And trust me, considering it was your first time, it's not cuz you're a better driver. Not to mention, with 3/4 tank of gas, thats about a half tank more than you would want.

With a Catback, a CAI I ran 15.46 on 17's (15.54 on 15's) (ecotec w/ 5-speed) and people have well documented I have a factory freak....your time is insane.....the track I run at is known for having fast times, and the best Stock Grand Am GT run there ever for my club is 15.1..........I to need a slip for proof

i went to the track last night i got a 2.4L 5 speed and my best time was a 16.666 and it was about 60 degrees out side. my little brother has a 2000 gtp and it ran 15.00 stock so i don;t think an alero can out do a supercahrged v6

Some tracks actually dip near the end so times are artificially faster than they should be on a truly horizontal surface. Maryland's Cecil County is like that as is the NHRA track in Dallas. That might explain some folks' unusually quick times. RP is 100% level bottom to top.

Those are some slow times for those cars....what is your altitude?
The track I run at is perfectly flat, but low altitude. I am in a Grand Am/Grand Prix club and stock Grand Am GT's do 15.2-15.5 usually, and GTP's are way into the 14's. (14.5ish)

haha i knew no one would believe me, you keep saying 17's like it's crazy, the rims with tires weigh like maybe 14 lbs each. but that's why i clearly said i'd need to get a slip when they have em. i dont think my car weighs 3000lbs either, unless that's just the body, cause i have no backseat, passenger seat or spare in at the time. but it's ok...

That is quite a bit of weight saving, but my car was 2888LBS out of the factory (about 2900 with my one option power seat)
It is 2003 GX coupe.

Every racetrack has a scale that you can weigh you car on. At RP it's on the 1/4-mile's return road. If you're going to run the car with half the interior removed, you'd best (1) mention that at the beginning of your story, (2) get the car weighed so you can tell us your exact weight, (3) post actual timeslips.

Yeah, a guy Saturday with a 1993 Grand Am GT with the 2.3L Quad4 H.O. removed his back seat, passenger seat, door panels, some front bumper, spare tire, etc. He ran a 15.33 @ 90.23MPH......he crushed my weighted down car, I could only do a 15.55
