I was wondering if anyone has purchased or heard these subwoofers? -I haven't heard a lot about them but some audioshops around my city say these are really good. The audioshops say this sub is 2500 watts max and 2000 watts RMS. Does this mean that on a head unit with a max of 35 volume, you could turn it up 80% the way on the HU and not hurt the sub-resulting in 28 volume on HU?

nah....although the headunit does have a little say in how high you can go without it distorting that factor is going to come from your amplifier and how good of quality it is, if your specs are right those subs are massive and can take some power, I know I have heard of orion but never heard a demo vehicle or knew anyone with some, I mean if the subs are 2000 rms give them a shot, hope you got an amp for them.......

I know Orion used to be really good. Haven't heard anything from them in a few years. I know they are very costly.

I just ordered the sub and will be gettin pics available when it comes in-
For the amp, Would an Orion 1200 D or 2500 D work?
1200 D Mono-handles 1200 watts RMS
2500 D Mono-handles 2500 watts RMS

(Keep in mind the H2 handles 2000 watts RMS)

Which amp should I get (or if anyone has any other amps to suggest?)

if the sub can handle 2000 watts rms, i'd get the 2500D and turn it down a little bit...

Wouldn't the 1200 D be able to power the subwoofer?
Cause I don't want to blow the h2 with 2500 watts.

of course the 1200d will power it, the 2500d will just power it more. u dont have to have the 2500d turned up all the way though.

Today I talked to some guys that worked at the local audio shops and they said it would just be best to save some money and go with the 1200 D because the 2500 ain't going to make a big difference. They said you'd have to multiply the amp's power rating by 10 to get any difference in hearing it. Is this true?

You shouldnt really need a 2500watt amp... the 1200 should be plenty, just put it in a large volume ported box, and it'll be all good.
usually to gain 3db's output you need to either doubble your power, or the ammount of drivers you have/the air you are moving...(at least i think this is right)
The would give you an increase in output, however unless you plan on upgrading at a later date, then stick with the 1200...
You could get the 2500, but if you do keep the gains down, and put it in a sealed box.
