Alright, I made a stupid decision to buy a 280-watt Sony shelf system for a total of $211 at Circuitcity. Don't ask why, but I'm gonna return it to get my money back, so I wanna get a headunit, cause my stock is easily skipping now. This Pioneer DEH-6600 looks sweet. I don't really wanna spend anymore than $300 total.

Also, once I take back that shelf system (30 day money back), I will get cash right? At best buy, the headunit is $224. Thx.

Don't buy the base pioneer model buy the Pioneer Premiere model it's a WAY better deck,

Better pre outs
more power
better warranty

only downside is more cost
once u've had premiere u'll never go back to anything else

Personally, I bought the Panasonic, I forget the model number now..but its the color changing one a couple years back and its the best head unit i've ever bought. i got in an accident and the damn thing still didnt skip a beat. my brother had the same one in his jeep that he would take off-roading and through all the bumps, rocks, trees(oops), it never skipped. I bought the alpine tv this time around and i'm not so satisfied with it. it just doesn't seem to sound as good or as loud..
so moral of my story: I'd get another panasonic anyday

I got the 6600 Jackel. I may be wrong, but I think the only differences are with the plastic up front. The display is pretty much the same, as are the features. Same deck, new model number.

You got mail, sonic.

If anyone else is interested on the cheapest prices for this deck, I'll post my results.

If you're gonna spend $299.99 then get the DEH-P7600MP (MP3 capable)at Best Buy...otherwise the DEH-P6600 is only $249.99 at Best Buy right now.

The spacing your dad is probably talking about is at the back of the unit. I had to do a little trimming of the plastic back there to get my decks to fit.

Anyway, I previously owned the 6500 and I now own the 6600. There are quite a few differences between the two. First the 6600 has one additional output over the 6500, specifically for the subs. That makes three aux inputs on the 6600 over two on the 6500. Second, it has a High Pass Filter, the 6500 does not. This is designed to filter the music coming out of your stock speakers so only certain frequencies (that you choose) come out. There is the option to run the subs with all speakers working in your car, as opposed to the 6500, you could only run the front speakers when you were in sub mode. Now, how do I explain this? On the 6500, there was an option to run in sub mode. When this was on, you would have all the settings in your Audio to control the level and output of your subs. When this was turned off, you could not adjust you subs. There is this same option on the 6600, but it runs with all of the stock speakers, as opposed to just with the front speakers. The 6600 also has more adjustability as far as sound goes. I think it is quite a bit better than the 6500, and well worth the money.
