Removing Dome Light

I seen several threads talking about how to remove the clear lens to the dome light, but how do you remove the escutcheon that the lens attaches to? I need to get underneath the dome light to drill a hole through the roof.

If I remember correctly (been awhile since I took the headliner down) It should just be clipped in (two clips)...just tug on it....if you break the tab that the clip is on you are screwed though. I can't remember if there is a screw there or not you'll have to look if once you pop the lense off and you don't see any screws then I'm sure it is clipped.

It's clipped. Where the clips are, there are arrows pointing different directions and they say remove. I was wondering if that meant anything special.
