he's right, its on the backside of the motor and is a beatch to get to. I thought about changing mine but its worthless til I get the PCM tuned. when looking at the engine from the bottom, the thermostat is at the end of the tube that runs under the oil pan. Its also just below the water pump if you know where that is.

my buddy has a 97 ga 2.4 sead ya godda take off the water pump it's behind it. is this true?

It's behind a housing on the back right of the engine if you're looking for it. it's inside the water pump housing.

which was the part that went on me the other day. took the mechanic 5 hours to do the job. including finding the issue.

Its not inside the water pump housing. slvralero420 had the best description. Its inside a black tube that runs under the oil pan and up just under the water pump. 2 bolts removes it, but you will need slack to open it so remove the bolt holding the black tube from the oil pan. Good luck cause its a BIATCH
