my car has no problems, i live in a hotter climate a slightly higher weight oil is beneficial. i also run an oil cooler. its all in what you prefer as the owner and what helps you feel comfortable about the protection in your car. i prefer 10/30 or 10/40.

no. it won't hurt. but it won't really help either. we don't get warm enough for it to make a difference.

I'm currently running 5w30 which i put in before winter
I live in the Mojave dessert, it gets in the single digits in the winter and up to 120 in the summer(typically around 110 day to day but its not uncommon to be 100 at 1am)
i have 83k
should i run 10w30 or stick with 5w30? or is something else be better?
they dont sell 5w20 anywhere here cuz of the heat
im not running synthetic simply cuz im a poor college student

I run 5W30 all year round and my car is at 260,000km. It's also the 3400 and is starting to get a lot of lifter tick. Will going to 10W30 help quiet down the tick?
