breaker bar or knuckle buster wateva u wana call it. in the shop we never use an air tool cuz yes it can over tighten it and we get those where vice grips are the only thing that can end up grabbing it. A ratchet has a tendancy to slip gears when under too much pressure or torque. As soon as it gives u can use a ratched if need but u should be able to get it with ur fingers. and dont forget the filter too!

i got a craftsman ratchet set and i love it, nothing ever slips and its got a lifetime waranty even if something does snap. before i got the craftsman set i snapped like 3 ratchets (no named brands) probably the best money i spent on tools

i don't know how you would need a breaker bar for a drain plug..... nothin like stripped threads on a pan

I generally use an open ended wrench, half inch if I remember, or use a box wrench for it in right size.

Pending on the surface I jack up the car a bit on one side for room, crawl under belly down from the front and wrench it.

If ever you lose your direction when you're at an awkward angle..
using a ratchet set to loosen, moving it over the bolt makes for easy direction
