Woohoo!!! Interior is being restored!

If you all remember... I got stupid one weekend and decided to paint my interior black and blue... Welp... needless to say this is how it turned out...

But after a little bit of thinking and some help from a local dealership, I started to take off the mess I put into the car... Just a little bit of this paint remover stuff my mom had and a bit of elbow grease and this is what I got..

before with one of them done already...

and now I got both of these pieces back to normal and man do they look clean!

yes I do......... took about an hour to do those two pieces, but that was only because I wasn't using a good technique at first.... found one that works fast now.... lol

As for the product.... I don't remember right off hand... it's all the way down in the basement right now and I'm feeling lazy tonight... I'm going to work on it some more tomorrow so I'll post it up tomorrow around 11.

AH! Nicely done. If you want to keep the blue, you can also work on up on the lighting... blue LED's in the vents, blue film cover to change the light to blue in the bin on the center console... The only issue I had with painting the two interior "running boards" (can't think of the name right now) is foot scrapes. Ince it scrapes, and the paint begins to peel... that's a pain. No real solution - which is why I threw the idea of kick panels on my project.

None the less... it's looking great.

One question though - on the face piece on the center console, right around the vent knobs, how did you paint it and keep the icons there?

actually... rather simple. lol I cut little pieces of regular scotch tape and placed it over the icons... the middle one was tricky... there's a little bit of black around them, but it doesn't look all THAT bad... I'm not sure whether I want to leave that alone or take the paint off of it too.... The dash and the door panels are pretty much the only things I'm going to be replacing (thank God!).... And while I'm at it... here's the stuff I'm using... it says don't use on plastics, but it's working and it hasn't torn up the plastic or anything... You are suppose to leave it sit on there for like 15 minutes, but I've been rubbing it on and wipe it back off, then when it's all off, I wash it down with some water.

but that stuff is called, original semi-paste Stypeez.... something like that. I beleive you can find it in the household paint isle in the store... Pretty good stuff.

Yeah, the chemicles are dangerous... the back of the bottle says prolonged exposure to toxins has been shown to cause cancer.

So I'm keeping myself safe...

Thank God is right... It's a wonderful feeling knowing that I can erase this horrible paint job of mine. lol Although I figured out why it said not good for plastics...... it's ok if you rub it on and wipe it off, but don't soak your little plastic pieces like the one that holds the lock switch on the driver's door panel...... ummm that stuff kinda ate away at mine.......... It was all nice and mushy when I tried to clean it off after soaking it in that stuff.... oops..

For anyone wanting to know I found the miracle product.

ITs made by Klean Strip...In an orange aerosol can. I forget the name but it can be picked up at your local walmart for about 5 bucks.

No elbow grease needed is the best part. I sprayed it on and the paint rippled up and i pulled it off....It didnt hurt the vinyl or plastic pieces either btw.

So my interior is also completely back to stock

not the product I used, but sounds like it's MUCH better!!!

I fubard the piece that holds the door lock switch on my door panel.... that stuff I used...... ummm yeah... Don't soak any of the pieces in that stuff.... Turned that plastic piece to mush.... literally! I'm gonna have to find this stuff and give it a try... Did you get it in the paint area????

also... it's safe for the dash bored and door panels then????

that other stuff I used works great with the plastic pieces... just don't let the pieces soak in it.. lol
