lowering with stock struts

has anybody lowered their alero 1.7in. in the front and 1.5in. in the back WITH stock stuts. the reason i'm asking is i want to know if they've ever had a camber issue EX. (this happened to my friend.) he lowered his integra and his tires touch the struts and ripped up his tires. i only have the stock rims with 215/60/15 or what ever it is. just wondering.

i cant see how the strut rubbed his tire, unless the tires were too big to begin with.

Mainly because he didn't correct for the extra negative camber that is inherent when lowering a car with a double-wishbone style of suspension.
Granted, it would be a gross miscalculation if his struts actually touched the tires...I'd wager it was just the terrible camber that wore the tires out.
Measure and re-measure.
On the Alero you can lower that much on stock struts without a problem, but don't start crying when they lose all damping ability after 10,000 miles.

It can be done, but if your sturts have 50K on them (or close) change them, rip into it once.

As for the camber adjustment, you can get camber bolts on PFYC, just look under the Grand am section

it's so easy to change them I haven't done my car yet but I can tell you the hardest part will be rusty bolts.

DO NOT DO IT your stock coils are made to support the weight of the car cutting them will weaken them and who knows what could happen all I know is it would be dangerous.
