anyone ever remove the slotted cover that goes over the one headlight in the assembly? i have the headlights apart right now and before i put them back together i would like to know if anyone has done this and what it looks like, thanks

it's been done by several people here. it can be pretty simple to do...........if you have the right materials. since you have them apart already, you have to use a hair dryer or a heat gun to soften the silicone holding the chrome assembly on the clear cover. when you get those separated, then you can pull out the orange cover, it just snaps in place, so it's easy to get out. when that is done, you need to clean all of the old silicone off before putting more silicone on the assembly. replace the chrome assembly, then put the back on again and give the whole assembly time to set before putting it back in the car.

I thought that piece was there to reflect some of the bulbs light towards the chrome at the back of the assembly to spread the light out more evenly in the chamber. I think removing that would make a brighter spot in the centre of the light and a glow around it. Might be interesting to see it, but yeah, it might be quite blinding too B)

yeah i tried taking the slotted cover off to see what it looked like. very blinding soooo... i decided to keep the covers on.
