I voted other. My only complaint about the car is the owners. Just refer to the above threads. Ken was sort of on the track I was thinking of.
Everybody complains about how little aftermarket support there is for the car, yet very few create anything new.
Everybody complains about maintenance issues, yet they probably blast over pot-holes Dukes-of-Hazard style, don't change fluids regulary, get a little noise and wait till it becomes a big noise to check into it/replace it.
But over all, the thing I love most about my Alero, is that it's mine, it's paid for, it blows away many of the high dollar sports cars, and I built/installed/created most of the performance mods that are currently on it.

I like the interior
yes, the back seat flip down release SUCKS
Power window problem? Isn't that what AC is for?
Blower resistor, shit the bed but I fixed if for $40, no biggy, same thing happened on my Durnago
ABS sensor, that was retarded, replacing the whole wheel bearing assemby for a little sensor. You should be able to change the senor alone
Breaks - suck. on hard stop they are toast
Overall, really no problems and it works just fine.

it looks just like a cup holder, if it's not they shouldn't have made it cup holder shaped?
and what the hell is it if it isn't a cup holder?
The only thing I could ask for is more power... but who doesn't ask for that in any car in this price range?

Its the Ash Tray holder. I understand that if you dont have an ash tray in your Alero, you can mistake that for a cup holder, but its way too big for majority of the cups.
For Myself, I voted for the back end taillights. Why did they have to make them so big? especially those in the trunk.

ashtray holder
spare coin holder
tissue holder (they make boxes shaped like it)
etc.
Why does everyone vote lack of mods/parts? There's a shitload of stuff available! Maybe not for the 3400... or you guys just aren't looking.

I'd like it better if it got better gas mileage. Like all cars built recently, the engine is at least 25% too big for it's own good. A hatchback instead of a trunk would have been an improvement.

my vote: needs 2 cup-holders in the front, not just the one. What if there's 2 people in the front and they both have drinks? one of them is screwed! (ie: passenger has to hold their cup lol)
also, on the aftermarket business.....yes, there is plenty out there, but because the 3400 isn't a popular engine to mod, and the Alero itself isn't all that popular to mod (in terms of body kits and other proprietary cosmetic stuff), the aftermarket parts are going to be quite a bit more expensive. That's my only gripe about the aftermarket.

Hey, at least the rear seats fold down.. I don't know what you're complaining about! To get the rear deck out of something (normally a fold the seats down endeavor) you need to remove the rear part, unbolt two big-ass and very tight bolts, then remove the entire rear seat part.
I WISH my rear seat would fold down. Same goes for Impalas, early 90's Cavaliers, etc.

Power... I just think with 3.4L even GM could have done a lil better. I mean cmon the 350Z has a 3.5L with 300 hp. If it was 200 hp stock for the V6 id be happy :P

I'd be happy and the Alero would have gotten more respect.

2001 Oldsmobile Alero GLS 3400 with 105,000 miles on her.
Items Replaced Since I've owned her that are not regular maintenance.
Lower Intake Manifold Gasket.
Anti-theft sensor (whole steering column)Wheel Bearings (x2)
Power Steering Pump
Turn Signals don't work (hazard switch)
Windows don't roll down (regulators have been replaced 3 times motors twice)
Sunroof makes popping and grinding noises when I open it (so it stays closed)
Transmission seems to shift hard into second gear. (not sure whats up with that)
Fit and finish of the vehicle is shit.
Fog lights don't work.
