im not saying he did his half assed but if you just cut it and dont sand or paint its going to look like crap and again, that wasn't meant to be directed towards him
and also, your not gonna get any points with a show judge by doing it that way.... im a perfectionist, i do all of my work to the best of my ability
if i were going to do that i would cut one from a junker then trace the outline on to the bumper, cut the outlined area off, sand it, glass it, block it and finally fade in the paint to the old bumper...... the melting idea might be one that i would try but i would still use a jutout from a junked car to get the shape just right and then again, i would repaint the area fading in to the original

you're awful smug for being new to the site, and not even having any shots of your "show car".

I jus finished melting mine it does wreck the pain on the bumper because you muststretch the plastic 2-3 inches up as long as you keep the cracks in the paint from spreading above or around the molding its fine and can be repainted. i would suggest scoring the paint with a razor just on the under egde of the lip to control the paint cracking ill get pics up when i get my gf's camera. oh yeah i used a heat gun and it took a while 2 hours 3 hours

Can't wait for pics! I've been interested in this since I got my alero & figured the only way to have a bumper for dual exhaust was with a bodykit...which I didn't really want. So this is COOL!

nate, its a legit revival though. its better to bring one back w/ a good question rather then just a stupid comment.
and heat guns get up around 300F) if i remember from my dad's) it melts hot glue.. so many 400F at the most

so, your saying that its of to cut into a bumper by using a heat gun to make it easier?

i think the OP orignally made a scor line with a razor, in the plastic... cut it, then heated it to give it a better "curve". cutting you can only really do straight lines.
