Installing the AAS Kit

Alright guys, so me and a buddy are literally installing the front and rear bumpers ourselves right now and we ran into a problem... We got the bumpers off ok, but on the rear bumper (at least for now), the foam on the inside of the bumper is causing it not to fit onto the car at all. Has anyone run into this problem before? Should I just shave down the foam? What do you guys suggest? Also, am I going to run into this problem on the front as well?..and if so what should I do for that one?

If I can get an answer soon that would be awesome, seeing that we're doing it right now, lol. Thanks guys.

I would shave it down a little at a time.

Sounds like a plan. We'll go with that and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I'll have new pictures up when I get all of it on. For now I only have the bumpers done. Side skirts and new spoiler will be on by Thursday...hopefully.

The styrofoam does act as a support and sound deadener IMO.

An air horn?...lol. And we did end up shaving it down to literally nothing, so we did end up taking the foam off. Though, I need to get some touch-up paint because I had to dremel a couple parts to get it to fit correctly.

Before pics I need to get all of it on :P. I got the front bumper on yesterday with no problems (and I did it myself :P).

BUT, today I'm doing the skirts and my new spoiler. And I'll be honest, I've looked at that AAS picture at least 100 times and can still not figure out how the hell to properly mount those side skirts.

Anyone have any how-to's or anything they can tell me to get it to fit? Because at this point I'm not even sure what goes where in order to form it.

I'd love any advise anyone can give on this.

alot of times side skirts use the holes and clips that are already there for the plastic fender moldings... but idk never installed one of my own...

did you buy it painted or primed?

I believe "primed"...even though it really wasn't. I spent a month and a half sanding down and repriming all the parts along with painting and clear-coating them.

Anyone with an AAS kit have any ideas as to how to install the side skirts? I'm gonna go try to install my spoiler in the mean time.

Kit was $500 plus shipping, and all the painting supplies (base coat, clear coat, etc) was about $252. And sandpaper I guess was like $20...but I had so much of it.

I worked with a buddy on it who helped me paint. I did all of the sanding and filler work with plastic and such.

I think I figured out how to put the sides on, but I need to fabricate them quite a bit to get them to fit...and more than likely I'll have to touch it up when it's on.

My problem now is my spoiler. I took the bolts off from inside the trunk and tried pulling the spoiler off from the top, and it wouldn't budge. And being me, I'm afraid to just yank at the spoiler because I'll probably rip something in half. But is that all it takes to remove that spoiler is a good yank or what else needs to be done besides removing the bolts?

Might tap the bolts from the underneath. They are probably shifted into the metal a little plus doesn't it have grommets to prevent water damage?

I used a hair dryer, fishing line, and goo gone to clean up the mess...worked. Now I need to put my new spoiler on (just ran out to get some hardware for it), tap in the other brake light, and then I can move to fabricating the side skirts. Hopefully I'm done today.

HOLD up.

Exactly what "new spoiler" is going on? It's either stock, Razzi, or clean and smooth... no other options.
