HELP, no sound from speakers...brand new deck

Have a 99' Alero, with JVC deck and Alpines in the front doors. System has been great for 2+ years, all of a sudden no sound from any of the speakers, nothing at all no hum or buzz. Have an amp and sub in the trunk that still works as normal. The deck still turns on and functions fine, thought the amp in the deck must have crapped out so I replaced the deck with a brand new unit, still the same thing! No sound!? Redid the wiring from the factory harness to the Head unit no difference. I can't imagine all the speakers crapped our at the same exact time and dont produce any sound?

Do you have the Monsoon amp (factory POS)?

Sounds like it died on you. WOuld produce the issues you are having.

Yep, fuses were good. Didn't change anything with the gains.

check gains anyway. someone might be playing a prank.

if not. pop your door off, get two wires going to your speaker, and touch a 9V battery to them. if your speaker "pops" it should still work. its something in your wiring/headunit.

Odd... I have a 2000 and your right, pretty sure Monsoon wasnt (and thankfully) wasnt an option.

If a fuse was blown the radio wouldnt even turn on.

Given the fact that your RCAs are outputing to an amp and that portion is work, on two head units, Im going to venture and say your speakers or wire leading to the speakers are messed up. Im going to place most of that guess on some sort of an issue with the factory harness, whether its the plastic plug/pins or wires behind the dash.

I would check into it more and make sure you dont have some mutant factory system pre monsoon.

A good solid check would be to undo one speaker wire on the HUs harness before it meets the cars harness. Hook a speaker up direct there and see if its working or not.

The amp was available for 99's, and if you aren't sure then I'm sure you didn't check. These systems aren't complicated at all...all the speakers run from there locations run to there respective fuse block (for example all the passenger side speakers run to the passenger side fuse block...doesn't mean they are fused there just means they run through there...then they run directly to the wiring harness for the radio.) So either the radio isn't coming on fully (wiring or fuse) or it is screwed up. The other reason is that you could have blown them all...unlikely but possible...the question is what would have caused it. I wonder if the headunit has an internal fuse?

Nobody makes a head unit with an internal only fuse. If they did the fuse would be for all or none.

Its not the head unit.

After Lonnie's post Im felling confident you have a factory amp somewhere that took a giant

Went back and did a double take in the trunk again, no monsoon amp to be found or at least I couldn't find it.

I also thought I would test the new headunit with floor standing speaker I wired it directly to the harness coming off the headunit, and no sound through floor standing speaker? Gotta be a bad headunit?

Ok.

HU #1 all of sudden no sound to speakers, subs work fine.

HU #2, brand new out of box. Same condition.

You took the wires directly off the HUs barness, not at the door or anything else. It doesnt work?

Check the fader. Check to see if theres a way to turn off the HUs internal amp.

Its so very unlikely your HU #1 crapped out and HU #2 is defective.

Wired the floor standing speaker directly to the new HU.

HU's amp is set to High power

The '99 doesn't have monsoon at all... The monsoon didn't come out until 2001.

They did have an amp optional, but it only powered the woofers on the rears. (RPO UQ3)

That's what I got, the amp is a mutant, makes no difference at all
